Sildenafil belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Dapoxetine is used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men. Dapoxetine+sildenafil is also used to treat premature ejaculation in men. Dapoxetine is a PDE5 inhibitor. Therefore, Dapoxetine may cause dapoxetine-associated side effects such as headache, dizziness, flushing, heart attack, and blurred vision.
Precautions:Do not take Dapoxetine+sildenafil if you have a previous history of heart disease, irregular heartbeat, have had a heart attack or stroke, circulation problems, low blood pressure, take medications that could affect the heart, or are taking certain other medicines. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking as they may interact with Dapoxetine, increasing the risk of side effects. Dapoxetine can increase the risk of low blood pressure and dizziness. Inform your doctor if you are taking any of these medicines:
Nitroglycerin, amyl nitrite, like other nitrates, as co-administration with Dapoxetine+sildenafil or other nitrates can cause a severe drop in blood pressure, resulting in dizziness, nausea, or heart attack or stroke, hypotension, eye problems such as optic discoloration, and mania or depression. Dapoxetine may cause dizziness or affect vision, so do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you are not fully alert. It is not usually recommended to take Dapoxetine+sildenafil together with alcohol since Dapoxetine may affect the effectiveness of this drug. Before taking Dapoxetine, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.Drug-Drug Interactions:Inform the doctor if you are taking phenothiazine (thioridazine), anti-psychotic (lithium), antibiotic (linezolid, telithromycin, erythromycin, clarithromycin), an amino acid (tryptophan), pain killer (tramadol, ibuprofen, aspirin), anti-HIV (ritonavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir, atazanavir, amprenavir, fosamprenavir), anti-fungal (ketoconazole, itraconazole, fluconazole), anti-depressant (nefazodone), blood thinner (warfarin), impotent agents (sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil), calcium channel blocker (diltiazem, verapamil), anti-emetics (aprepitant), BPH agents and anti-migraine medicines.
Drug-Food Interactions:Do not take St. John’s wort (herbal supplement used to treat depression) while taking Dapoxetine. Avoid consuming grapefruit juice within 24 hours of taking Dapoxetine as it could lead to an increase in the level of Dapoxetine in the body.
Drug-Disease Interactions:Inform the doctor if you have cardiovascular/heart disease, a history of dizziness due to low blood pressure, depression, mania, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, epilepsy/fits, bleeding or blood clotting problems, glaucoma, kidney problems, or moderate to severe liver problems.
